History

The club was organized on November 9, 1953, and was first called the Y Photography Club because it met at the Wooster YMCA.  At the following meeting on December 7, 1953, the name was changed to the Y Camera Club.  In 1962 the name became Wooster Camera Club.  Jim Pugh was the first president.  The first annual elections in February, 1954, resulted in the following officers:  Dr. N. B. King, Pres.; Ralph Treat, V. Pres; Barbara Carson, Secy; and Dr. A. I. Good, Treas.  The first committee chairpersons included the Rev. Bob Tuck and Lloyd Cornelius.  Membership peeked at about 100 in the late 1950's and 1960's.  Current membership is in the twenties.
